Keep Your Skin from Aging Prematurely

Despite the quest for a "fountain of youth," one has never been found and it is also unlikely that one ever will be. Medical science, however, has now introduced methods for prolonging life. Preventive health care, a balanced diet, proper exercise, and medications have resulted not just in a longer life expectancy but also in improved vitality and youth throughout the middle years. The typical human life expectancy has been increased by about 20 years since the start of the 20th century.
Even if it's been slowed down, the process of aging continues. The external telltale signs of aging are familiar--gray hair or baldness, wrinkles and fine lines, and loss of muscle tone. Even though there is no specific timeframe of those signs to appear, their onset is typically sometime after age 40. An earlier appearance of these signs is usually a sign of premature aging.

All skin ages eventually but different types of skin react differently to the process of aging. Dry skin tends to become thinner and wrinkle easily while oily skin has a tendency to thicken, causing enlarged pores and some deep lines to appear. One sign of aging skin is the lack of elasticity and flexibility.
Even though aging cannot be stopped, proper preventive and corrective measures can help you to reduce premature aging. Avoidance is always better than correction. It is simpler to prevent a problem from developing than it is to fix it later. The better condition skin is in when degeneration is slowed, the easier it is to keep its health and beauty. It's extremely crucial that you keep the skin you were born with in the very best condition possible. This means being precise and thorough in your daily beauty routines. Additionally, it means being sure to protect your face and hands from the sun and cold. In cold temperatures, this can mean applying moisturizer to your face and bundling up; during the summer, ensure that you apply a broad spectrum sunblock before you go outside. These preventive steps can delay the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Once the damage has already been done and it is too late for prevention, the only real options left are corrective. These options range from a simple anti-wrinkle cream to something as drastic as plastic surgery. Procedures like microdermabrasion and laser resurfacing are also becoming more and more popular. However, even the most basic anti-aging skin care regimen may become costly over time so it's preferable to avoid premature aging, instead of attempting to treat the symptoms after they appear.
